In the Trenches with Dave Lapham

University of Cincinnati basketball fans have seen the ups and downs of the Bearcats program over the years. However, one time fans remember fondly is when current West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins took over the struggling Bearcats program and becoming the program’s winningest basketball coach with 399 wins over 16 years.

Since leaving Clifton, Huggins led Kansas State to a 23-12 mark during the 2006-07 season before going back home to West Virginia, where he’s led the Mountaineers to 310 wins.

Since starting his coaching career at Walsh, the man many call “Huggy Bear” became one of only six coaches to win 900 or more games when the Mountaineers beat Morehead State 84-67 during first-round play in this season’s NCAA tournament.

Coach Huggins joins Dave “In The Trenches” presented by First Star Logistics and talks about growing up in Port Washington, Ohio, the son of a successful high school coach, his playing career, what led him to coach, and much more.
