In the Trenches with Dave Lapham

Former 2x Super Bowl champion (XXI, XXV) quarterback Phil Simms has come a long way from his high school career at Southern High School (Louisville, Kentucky) to the CBS pregame show The NFL Today.

Recently, Simms got In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics to discuss his life growing up in Kentucky, how many teams offered him a scholarship in high school, his journey from Morehead State, his workouts leading up to the 1979 NFL Draft, playing for the New York Giants, and head coach Bill Parcells.

Simms road to the Giants is an interesting one considering he thought he’d be playing for Bill Walsh and the San Francisco 49ers after working out for Walsh.

Simms and Lapham also look at the upcoming NFL Draft with several quarterbacks at the top of many mock drafts and what the Bengals should look to do when they get to the fifth pick in the draft.

Also discussed is Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and the impact last year’s first overall pick has had on the Bengals and the NFL.
